Courses for Nursing Staff
In hospital settings up to 25% of patients may be malnourished and up to 40% of adults and 15% of children admitted to hospital are malnourished. This one day course covers basic nutrition as it affects all groups of patients with emphasis on avoiding malnutrition. Specific areas such as texture modification, diet and heart disease, diabetes can also be covered.
Courses for the Fitness Industry
Nutrition & Fitness. Covers basic principles, weight management strategies, current recommendations, ergogenic aids including the use and abuse of sports drinks. Nutrition & Sport. Nutrition as it effects performance in key sporting events. Glycogen loading, rehydration, electrolyte replacement, ergogenic aids, menu planning. Both courses available as one or two day programmes.

Courses for Care & Catering Staff
A specialist course for personnel involved in the preparation or administration of therapeutic diets within care settings. The principles and practical considerations of diets for dysphagia (modified diets) diabetes mellitus and malnutrition are covered. Also covered is the promotion of good hydration in line with Care Quality Commission or Care Commission guidance.The course is delivered by a Registered Dietitian.
Courses for Food Technologists
This course covers areas such as food additives, food and nutrition labelling, fortification and restoration and methods of food technology. This course can be between 1 or 4 days long.

We also provide a comprehensive week on week Weight management programme which consists of a tutors pack together with Fact sheets which can form the basis of a weight management session or a talk by gym staff to clients on diet and health. Half-day Workplace Seminars
Diseases such as Coronary Heart Disease, Cancer and Obesity have an undisputed dietary link, increasingly people need to know what effective lifestyle changes they can make. We offer seminars on:

Diet, Menu & Recipe Analysis
Consumers are increasingly demanding more information about the food they eat. In certain circumstances nutrition labelling is mandatory but other manufacturers provide the information voluntarily since they see it as an aid to consumer choice. We can offer:
• Analysis using recognised computer databases to conform to legal labelling requirements
• ‘Big 4’ (energy, carbohydrate, protein & fat) or ‘Big 8’ (as before plus sodium, fibre,saturates and sugars) analysis

Nutrition Audits
Audits of food preparation sites by a Dietitian to establish whether the business conforms to the Model Nutrition Guidelines for Catering Specifications or other similar standards. There is an obligation on the whole Public Sector within Scotland to follow these. Detailed report and recommendations provided.

Fife Council Care Homes – A Nutrition Audit was carried out in Fife against in- house standards, Care Commission guidance and Caroline Walker Trust guidelines.
DEVELOPMENT OF SPECIALIST RESOURCES
We can advise on the content, presentation and development of specialist resources on food safety, allergies, nutrition, slimming and any similar subject. This can be as basic as a ten minute fact sheet for use with a slimming group to a fully developed course for delivery to employees.
